Snickle Frits is CHAMPION!!!!

This fantasy season was set to finish with what seemed to be the game of the year between the Bills and the Bengals. It ended in a way I have never before witnessed: the NFL (appropriately) coming to a screeching halt. That game impacted me differently than other games I think, at least in part, because it was my favorite team, with players that I follow far too closely, and to see their reactions was spooky.

I kept saying I didn’t know how these human beings could reasonably be asked to go back out and finish that game. I thought the NFL would demand it. It was heartwarming to see the NFL allow the teams to make a decision, in the moment, that went against precedent. The aftermath has been even more heartwarming and uplifting. It’s been incredible to see how this has touched so many people in so many ways, but mostly, brought prayer and faith in God to a national spotlight when we live in a culture that seems to abhor this topic. This tragedy has also brought to the forefront much of what I love about sports: the sense of unity, connection, brotherhood, camaraderie, love, working for a greater purpose, and doing more together than can be done on one’s own. All this is much easier to appreciate with Demar Hamlin’s health trending in a positive direction. We’re all sports degenerates but I know we all know there are things of far greater importance than sports and it’s been nice to see those at the forefront.

It has also brought up a challenge in how to administer the menial things we track such as statistics, wins and losses, and fantasy football points. I feel fortunate to have the people we do in our league because it makes my job as commissioner infinitely more manageable than it would be otherwise. Thank you! The way the matchups played out in the final week has made a decision easy and clear in my mind. The championship game was already a near lock for Snickle Frits, even before the Bills Bengals game. The likelihood that Logan Wilson was going to score 16 points above whatever Joe Burrow was going to score was incredibly small. As such, no changes will be made to that matchup. It seems only fair to align all other outcomes the same. No changes will be made, given the stakes in those matchups only has to do with bragging rights and next seasons draft positioning. In short, the results you see on the app are final.

Let me offer an enthusiastic congratulations to Bradley on his first league championship. It was well deserved, especially in the last 2 weeks. TJ Hockenson, Mike Evans, and Austin Ekeler showed up big and carried him to victory. I know you’ve had some lean years Brad and I’ve given you grief about some of your teams over the years, but the roster you fielded this year was championship deserving. Well done! Let me know what jersey and size you’d like, and we’ll get it ordered and on its way to you!

Let me also shout out call of juedy, who prior to this year had finished no better than 5th place and often was out of the playoffs. You battled some lean years to finally have a shot at being champ. Keep it up.

We’ll have more to talk about over the offseason, especially what me may want to change (or not) about the QB conundrum we ran into this year. I’m going to give this a lot of thought and would welcome feedback. I’ll revisit our trade rules to make sure they are fair and clear. I’m considering eliminating or realigning divisions due to how it affected playoff seeding this year. I’ll also be on the lookout for other changes we could make to keep the league interesting, as well as competitive. 12 teams is the number we will stick with, so you all are invited back for next season. If for any reason you’re not able to continue, let me first say reconsider. If you are still set on not continuing, let me know and we’ll work to fill the spot. I always have more interest in people wanting to join this league than we have spots available.
